Introducing "ASK SUSAN" Q & A Advice Column in "One World"

Susan Branco Alvarado, LPC, PLLC, is a Licensed Professional Counselor with an independent practice serving adopted persons, families, and first parents in the metropolitan Washington, D.C. area. She is honored to be welcomed into the lives of the families, children, teens, and individuals with whom she works. In addition to her many years of experience in the field, Susan is herself an adopted person from Bogotá, Colombia, South America. One Worlder Dr. Jeff Leinaweaver

Dr. Jeff is the founder of Global Zen Sustainability, a social venture company focused on strategic global sustainability, corporate social responsibility, social innovation, leadership development and change, and comes from a family with three generations of adoptees. Jeff was originally adopted from Colombia, and he is the proud father of a daughter, also adopted from Colombia. As an international adoption scholar, Jeff gives talks and does social research on the role of narrative genealogy and identity development. His is a Fellow at Fielding Graduate University. One Worlders Dr. Mei-Mei Ellerman and Sabrina in China

Dr. MEI-MEI Akwai Ellerman (on right) earned her Ph.D. at Harvard, and grew up with her adoptive family in Tuscany, Italy. Her (adoptive) great-grandfather was the Danish Ambassador to China. She attended university in Switzerland, and is the proud mother of two grown children, Mei-Ling Ellerman (founder of "Action Research Project on Domestic Workers, China") and Derek Ellerman (founder of "Polaris Project"). In addition to the "One World" (CAL G2) board, Dr. Mei-Mei also serves on the board of the Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, as well as the board of Polaris Project. One Worlder Dr. Mitsuye Yamada

Dr. MITSUYE YAMADA (center), the proud grandmother of One Worlders Emi and Mia, is the author of "Camp Notes and Other Poems," "Desert Run: Poems and Stories," and the co-star of the Academy Award-nominated film, "Mitsuye & Nellie: Asian American Poets." Dr. Mitsuye served on the board of Amnesty International for many years, and has traveled the world on behalf of Amnesty International to advocate for the rights of political prisoners. One World (CAL G2) is honoured to have Dr. Mitsuye as a board member. Thank you, Dr. Mitsuye!

ADELE (on right) is a talented fashion designer, artist and teen growing up in the UK. JENNIFER Bao Yu "Precious Jade" (on left), proud big sister of Chris (whose birthfamily is from Korea), grew up in Orange County, California and is a former Harvard grad and Harvard "Let's Go" travel writer now completing her Ph.D. at the University of California, Berkeley. Jennifer's birthfamily is from Jiangsu Province, China and Taipei, Taiwan, and her adoptive family includes two generations of Chinese adoptees. ADELE's birthfamily is also from China, and she loves her gorgeous horse in England, Twinkle. Thank you, Jennifer & Adele!
