I have been competing in the pool since I was 5 years old. I took a break going into 6th grade and started back when I began high school swimming. I have always had my foot in the water, so to speak. I enjoy swimming it has opened many doors for me, but as I'm going to college in the fall to be a coxswain for the University of Washington Women's Crew team, my swimming career is about over, but not just yet!
Monday, July 26, 2010 I raced in the a Preliminary meet. Now, I haven't been training in the water since November and I also missed a few meets due to college orientation, so I went into this meet not expecting to do much. I knew I hadn't been racing my best all summer, so I thought this would be my last meet and wanted to put my best foot forward. I went after my races and pushed myself harder than I had all season. It was a great feeling. I swam in the 200 yards B Medley Relay, 100 yards Individual Medley, 50 yards Backstroke, & the 200 yards B Freestyle Relay. At the end of the meet I came away with a 5th seat in the 200 Medley Relay, 4th seat in the 100 IM, & 2nd seat in the backstroke! I was so shocked, but excited to be going out of the pool with a bang.
I look forward to racing in the Northern Division meet tomorrow. Hopefully I can continue on to All Cities on August 3rd!
This proves trying your hardest can bring unexpected results.
Take care all!
