Monday Musings - Deann Borshay Liem's Worldwide Film Premiere "IN THE MATTER OF CHA JUNG HEE"

Dear All,
We "sprung" into the first week of spring with a whirlwind of parties, glitz and glamour, missed flights, exams, hula hooping, and holidays in Costa Rica! ONE WORLDERS reported live from Ireland, England, NYC, Toronto, California and London. Here's a glance at the week in recap...
Last week ONE WORLDER Jennifer reconnected with her sisters from the Emerald Isle and the UK (see photo above: the girls & Jennifer in England); on the very same day -- across "the pond" -- ONE WORLDER Mei-Mei "floated into the exotic world" of the Diane von Furstenberg Inaugural "Women in the World Awards" at the United Nations, NYC, mingling with amazing women world leaders.(photo above: One Worlder Dr. Mei-Mei Ellerman and Meryl Streep

Meanwhile, in the Emerald Isle ONE WORLDER Fuaihuan passed her

Gaelcholáiste entrance exam

(for secondary school in Ireland) - Congratulations Fuaihuan!!!
We're very proud of you :)

ONE WORLDER Peachy completed "Charity Day" at her school in England with sports relief activities and hilarious hula hoop moves by her teachers, while ONE WORLDER Jet missed two flights (one from the UK, the other to the UK) and did a great job helping her mum in England, who is "85, half-blind, a pain in the arse, and smokes like a chimney, and had a bad fall before Xmas."

ONE WORLDER Erin shared stories of her "Rainbow" school in Spain, where she lived for many years with her (adoptive) mom before coming to the USA. ONE WORLDER Sabrina spent some well-deserved holiday time in Costa Rica with her family.

Then (after the surviving the 13-hour-long flight back from London) ONE WORLDER Jennifer had the great privilege of attending...

The Worldwide Premiere of

"IN THE MATTER OF CHA JUNG HEE"
a film
by the Emmy Award-winning director of First Person Plural
Deann Borshay Liem
CONGRATULATIONS DEANN!

"In the Matter of Cha Jung Hee" took place at the glamorous Camera 12 Cinemas, San Jose, California. The audience awaited the start of the film in delicious anticipation, and left in a state of awe and admiration. Deann's, the first worldwide film premiere I've ever attended, threaded together the various bits of her history(ies), her adoption story and...the startling discoveries that she encountered in her search for the truth!

Tonight's screening of Deann's film marked the grand finale of the 28th Annual San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival - hosted by the CENTER FOR ASIAN AMERICAN MEDIA (CAAM).

For those of you who weren't able to make your private jet to Deann's premiere in California, worry not! Check out PBS (Public Broadcasting Service) Television in America, which will air both of Deann's films this August on national television as part of the PBS Acclaimed "POV Series." This series is a must for those in the know.
